It's impossible to talk about this season's NBA losers without mentioning the most losing coach of all: Monty Williams of the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons started the season with 28 consecutive losses, almost every loss imaginable, and brought the team to a boiling point. Williams naturally assumed most of the responsibility after signing a six-year, $78.5 million coaching contract last summer, the richest in NBA history. On December 30th, relief finally came against the short-handed Toronto Raptors, who had just completed a major trade without any new players. Williams was expected to be the veteran voice a young locker room needed to take the next step heading into the play-in tournament. However, Williams has been heavily criticized for his insane rotations, benching last year's lottery pick Jaden Ivey, taking former No. 1 pick James Wiseman out of the rotation, and replacing this year's lottery pick Orser Thompson. He played only 24 minutes. The only thing worse than the Pistons' performance is the coaching staff's strategy.
