(Bloomberg) – Mikhail Parakhin, head of Microsoft’s Bing search engine and advertising business, announced that the software giant Mustafa Suleiman will oversee consumer artificial intelligence work a week after he took over the role. He will be resigning from his position and will be looking for a new post. He then asked Palakin to report.

Microsoft said Paraquin, who previously served as CEO of advertising and web services, will report to chief technology officer Kevin Scott while the company searches for a new role. Mr. Parakhin also oversaw part of his Windows software business at the company. That job would be taken over by his Pavan Davuluri, who oversaw hardware and other parts of Windows. Davuluri, who will now run all Windows and Surface hardware and report to Executive Vice President Rajesh Jha, revealed the changes in an email to staff on Monday.
Jha's email and spokesperson did not say whether Parakhin might leave Microsoft or take on a new role within the company.
Mr. Paraquin's departure from the core of the company's consumer AI products comes after Chief Executive Satya Nadella announced last week that Mr. Suleiman, co-founder of AI researcher DeepMind, was part of a push to consolidate the field. This marks the first personnel change stemming from the move to put someone in charge.
Two people familiar with his thinking said last week that the move shows Mr. Nadella's impatience with the team's efforts. Over the past year, Microsoft has incorporated his AI into his Bing search engine, Windows, Office, and other products, and created a variety of digital assistants under the Copilot brand. But Bing has made little profit against search market leader Google, and other products remain in development.
The Verge first reported on the management changes.
