Stephen Colbert said President Trump should go to prison after it was revealed that he raped E. Jean Carroll during a monologue on The Late Show.
Colbert said:
of course, playing cards I'm very happy that all the coverage is about this court battle. Because it distracts people from what this case is actually about. As Mitt Romney said, „Many people in this country are out of touch with reality and will accept anything Donald Trump says. A jury says Donald Trump raped a woman.“ And that doesn't seem to be moving the needle.“
Well, to be fair, the jury said this was sexual assault. The judge later clarified that the assault would generally be considered rape. This situation should end with Mr. Trump in prison or, best of all, living alone in a motel near a racetrack. But every time things get worse for him, his poll numbers get better. This explains his new slogan for 2024: „Welcome to Hell.“
For now, Trump doesn't believe he should take any responsibility. At 2 a.m., he posted shouting, „The President of the United States must have complete immunity. It will be impossible to function properly without it.“ No, Trump does not believe in any responsibility. He believes the presidency should be like the movie The Purge, which is why he always wears that weird leather pig mask. But that's good. It's great to see him being inclusive. „I think the president should set up a private death squad to take out anyone who dares to oppose him, whether he or she is Hispanic or her Spanish. I believe. Kill me, Bayah! Lord, kill me, Bayah.“
Colbert video:
Trump is potentially in prison for many reasons, but the fact that he was convicted of what Judge Kaplan said amounted to rape only disqualifies him from serving as president. He should be put in jail instead.
The fact that Trump is a rapist may not change anything for his base within the Republican Party, but it certainly does for the men and women who are Donald Trump's followers. Although the rape/assault of E. Jean Carroll could be proven in civil court, there are dozens of other allegations against Mr. Trump.
Stephen Colbert is right. Trump should be in jail and there is no way he can be considered the next president.
