Brent crude oil traded above $83 a barrel after two days of gains in which futures prices rose about 1%, while West Texas Intermediate fell below $80. Recent sessions have been at contention with declining U.S. crude inventories and receding signs that U.S. inflation may be receding, as well as slower demand growth forecasts from agencies such as the International Energy Agency.
