Will Smith is standing by his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, through thick and thin.
Speaking with ET’s Kevin Frazier on Wednesday from a screening of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the 55-year-old actor listed his partner of 26 years as one of the few individuals he considers a „ride or die“ in his life, alongside friends like DJ Jazzy Jeff and Alfonso Ribiero.
„It’s funny, I was just talking about this, I have always been blessed that there has never been a time in my life when I didn’t look to the side and have a ride or die right there,“ the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star told ET.
He continued, „Jada is one of the most loyal ride-or-dies I’ve ever had.“
The heartfelt tribute to his partner comes after the couple’s last public appearance together, celebrating Easter with their family following a challenging period. Public attention on the pair has diminished since Jada revealed in 2016 that she and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star decided to separate privately.
Since then, the couple has maintained a low profile, only coming together to promote their respective projects, like Smith’s upcoming film.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die follows the successful formula established in its first film: Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) engage in various adventures as tough detectives in the Miami Police Department.
Regarding the fourth installment in the beloved Bad Boys franchise, Smith mentioned that fans can anticipate new surprises with the classic banter between Mike and Marcus, along with an exciting sequel that expands the Bad Boys universe.
„We took a bold approach with this film, aiming to keep it thrilling and engaging while evolving with the characters,“ he explained. „We didn’t want to recreate the movie from 25 years ago – we wanted it to be age-appropriate for these characters.“
„There are multiple scenes where you will root for different characters,“ he shared. „It’s Mike and Marcus as you love them, but with added depth and more space for the extensive cast, creating an open and engaging experience.“
One of the new cast members is comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish, whom Smith praised for her quick wit and improvisational skills on set.
„Tiffany is a natural comedian, always ready with a new joke or adlib on every take,“ he remarked. „I greatly admire her ability to come up with fresh ideas and jokes every time the camera rolls.“
The film also features Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Nuñez, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Jacob Scipio, Melanie Liburd, and Tasha Smith.
