Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is undoubtedly enjoying everything that has happened in his career recently, but he is not done yet.
The World Cup Champion was interviewed this week ESPN Argentina, They also talked a little about their current aspirations when playing for club and country.
Martinez insists he is in no hurry and is fully focused on finishing Aston Villa's season before moving on to the Copa America.
„I'm taking it step by step. First I want to play in the Champions League with the club. Then I want to play in the Copa America. I don't like to skip a step. As if it's my first Copa America. I accept it.” the goalie said.
„It's everything I wanted. Whenever you leave without playing in the first team, that ego remains, but just because I didn't make my debut doesn't mean I wasn't growing up in Argentina. I didn't want to go to Europe. I've lived here for 40 years, but the few years I spent in Argentina are the most memorable. I'm more Argentinian than Dulce de Leche.
“Being the idol of the children is the most fun for me. The most fun for me is seeing the kids wearing the number 23 jersey at Mar del Plata. I will be back in Argentina for those two games. If you play, you will come back to England with more energy.”
The goalkeeper recently won the Copa America and the World Cup and became a legend for the Argentina national team. There's a new chance to win this summer's continental championships, and this time North American nations will be participating. However, there are some targets that need to be confirmed with Aston Villa first.
