Tomas Soucek dedicated his team's win against Luton Town to David Moyes as the West Ham manager secured a home victory.
West Ham confirmed earlier this week that Moyes will leave the London Stadium at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The Hammers defeated Luton 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday, with manager Moyes receiving a huge ovation before, during and after the game.
Soucek, whose goals were scored by James Ward-Prowse and youngster George Arcee, is grateful to Moyes for his efforts.
„It's difficult to accept. The manager is unbelievable and has improved this club so much,“ he told BBC Sport.
„We wanted to give him the win and I'm glad we did it in the second half. It was tough at the beginning, but it's a good win for everyone.“
West Ham's come-from-behind victory ended a winning streak in their last four competitive games, including last week's 5-0 defeat at Chelsea.
Moyes, who led United to Europa Conference League glory last year, was delighted to finish the game with three points in front of a fan base that is at times divided over his future.
„We leave here with great memories,“ said Moyes, whose side conclude their campaign at Manchester City next weekend.
„This is a great club and there's a lot of room for improvement. We can step up again and I hope we can. The crowd here was great, we had a great crowd today.“
„I have a lot of great memories here. We beat a lot of strong teams at home and the biggest thing is that West Ham is back on the map.“
Luton took the lead in east London through Albert Sambi Lokonga's goal within six minutes but fell short of clinching a much-needed victory.
The Hatters have won just one of their last 16 games and are all but certain to be relegated after just one season in the top flight.
Nottingham Forest need a point from games against Chelsea and Burnley to seal Luton's relegation.
However, the Hatters are far behind on goal difference, so even if the remaining results were all in their favor, they would effectively be unable to catch up with Forest.
Town manager Rob Edwards had tears in his eyes as he accepted his team's fate after a tough trip and applauded the packed away fans.
„I got emotional at the end because of the reaction from the supporters,“ he said. “I can only thank the players, staff and fans.
„We haven't crossed the line yet, but we've crossed it before and we can be back here again. Results matter in this world, but the fans have shown their understanding and full support.“
„There's a visible connection and bond. That doesn't happen very often. We've grown a lot, but this club is only going in one direction.
„I'm really proud of the growth this team has shown. I'm excited to see how we continue to work and show the competitive nature that we've been able to bring to the league. Makes everyone better. In the end, it was too much for us.“ ”
