Today, April 26, 2024, Resolute Forest Products, Greenpeace, Inc., Greenpeace Fund, Inc., and Greenpeace International announced that they have resolved the Resolute Forest Products, Inc. et al. v. Greenpeace International et al., No. 3:17-cv-02824-JST (ND Cal. 2016). Resolute Forest Products and Greenpeace Canada also announced that they had resolved the issue with Resolute Forest Products, Inc. et al. v. Greenpeace Canada et al. (Supreme Court of Ontario). All parties are pleased to be able to turn the page on these long-running cases. Greenpeace officials have no knowledge of any illegal activity by Resolute in the restricted area. Greenpeace Inc., Greenpeace International and Greenpeace Canada say the criticism has always been directed at Resolute's legitimate activities in specific forests that Greenpeace believes need further protection. Greenpeace says it will continue to advocate for environmental protection. Resolute says it is committed to the sustainability of the boreal forest and the prosperity of local communities. Resolute and Greenpeace agree that everyone should engage in this discussion and raise concerns with each other to resolve factual disagreements.
