The photographer who took the picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2021 pregnancy announcement is speaking out after claims that he doctored the photo.
Misan Harriman, the royal photographer and friend of the couple, shared the original photo on Instagram. The photo was taken in the back garden of the couple’s mansion in Montecito, California, by Harriman using an iPad while he was in the UK and they were in California. It was already known that Harriman took the portrait remotely.
Harriman clarified the situation by posting the original color photo along with a screenshot of the metadata. He explained that the only edit he made was turning the photo into a black and white portrait, which was the version used by Harry and Meghan to announce her second pregnancy.
In response to false claims made by The Daily Mail, Harriman set the record straight through an Instagram video. He emphasized that there was no doctoring of the photo and criticized the misleading journalism.
In an interview with the BBC, Harriman addressed questions about the photo being edited, explaining the context in which it was taken. He expressed frustration at the misinterpretation of his comments as evidence of doctoring the image.
In light of recent events involving Kate Middleton’s editing of a Mother’s Day portrait, Harriman’s response to the false claims highlights the importance of accurate reporting in the media.
