In Michigan, which Biden won in 2020, Donald Trump has a 15-point lead over Joe Biden, according to a new Kaplan Strategies poll.
Is this poll an outlier? Other polls show Trump leading in Michigan, but not by a wide margin.
Either way, this should strike fear into the hearts of Democrats.
red state report:
Race for the White House: Trump leads Biden by 15 points in this key state that turned blue in 2020
With the November election just six months away, former President Donald Trump holds a whopping 15-point lead over Democratic incumbent Joe Biden in the key battleground state of Michigan. According to Kaplan Strategies researchIn battleground states, the former president's approval rating was 51% to 36%. The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
The pollster reports that Trump's success is rooted in maintaining stable approval ratings, writing:
The key to President Trump's advantage in our polls is the Trump campaign's ability to maintain some degree of stability in its advantage/disadvantage ratio over Joe Biden.
Abortion remains a major issue, and there is no consensus on how many weeks abortions should be legal, indicating that the issue is best resolved at the state level.
Other polls have shown mixed results in Michigan. An Emerson College/The Hill poll released earlier this week showed Mr. Biden narrowly trailing Mr. Trump in Michigan (44% to 45%), while a Bloomberg News and A Morning Consult poll showed Biden leading Trump (47% to 45%). But according to the latter poll, Trump was polling ahead of Biden in six other key battleground states, and the Emerson poll showed him gaining support in all battleground states.
If this is accurate, that's pretty amazing.
Kaplan won Michigan +10 48/38 and Wisconsin +2 41/39 in late February.
Wisconsin is currently Trump +10 48/38. Trump's share rose 7 points.
Michigan was +15 for Trump, 51/36, giving Trump 3 shares.
AZ and PA seem new. Kaplan has done a lot of polling in the Republican primary this season. https://t.co/0OpGuGp10d pic.twitter.com/uVAr3KHV8S

If Trump retakes Michigan in November, there will be a lot of gnashing of teeth on the left, that's for sure.
