Michael Cohen's lawyer, Lanny Davis, said there was no doubt that Trump would be jailed if convicted in Manhattan.
Could President Trump go to jail if convicted in Manhattan?
When asked by MSNBC's Jen Psaki about the prison sentence Trump would receive if convicted, Davis said Trump will definitely go to prison for this charge because he cannot pardon himself. He said he was deaf. Repeat this. That will happen if he is elected president, but I hope not. Although he intends to pardon himself, and perhaps is trying to do so, he has stated that he will not be pardoned from a criminal conviction by a jury for a state crime. he has to go to jail. I don't support putting him in jail. Since he is a former president, I support house arrest, something less severe than imprisonment. However, there is no doubt that he will be placed under house arrest or in prison. If he is convicted. ”

For years, people have been saying Trump should go to jail or be in jail. Starting tomorrow, President Trump's imprisonment could become a reality.
Lanny Davis was probably right. Given Mr. Trump's circumstances (he is nearly 80 years old and has no criminal record), if he is found guilty, it is likely that he will be sentenced to some form of house arrest.
It will be very interesting to see how Trump's imprisonment will affect the 2024 presidential campaign. If Trump is under house arrest, will he campaign via Zoom calls? Trump's inability to physically campaign would be catastrophic for the Republican Party.
Republicans will get what they want by nominating a candidate for president who has been charged with 91 felonies.
The Manhattan trial is the closest Donald Trump has ever come to conviction and prison.
