Kaylee Gein is stable and breathing on her own two weeks after her head was repeatedly slammed into concrete by a teenage thug named Monice Decroux.
The brutal attack that left Gaines in critical condition occurred minutes from their high school.
Gein was left with a „fractured skull and bleeding and swelling on the brain,“ his family said. The full extent of her injuries will not be known until she wakes up.
A member of Gane's family wrote in the update: GoFundMe fundraiser „We are happy to share that Kaylee is breathing on her own and remains in stable condition. And the best news so far is that we have moved her out of the ICU. We are truly blessed by your support and prayers. It means so much to us!“
Mr. Decroux was arrested and charged with assault.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey asked that Decroux be tried as an adult.
This evil and complete disregard for human life has no place in Missouri or anywhere. I pray for the repose of the souls of the victims. Offenders must be prosecuted and tried as adults. If the victim dies, the charge should be upgraded to murder. https://t.co/WYdsYT0Ezd

„This evil and complete disregard for human life has no place in Missouri or anywhere. I pray for the victims,“ Bailey wrote on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter). I wrote it in a post. „Criminals should be prosecuted and tried as adults. If the victim dies, the charge should be upgraded to murder.“
In a shocking turn of events, Decroux's family has since claimed that she is the real victim.
A fundraiser and petition set up by her aunt is asking the court to show „sympathy“ for the attacker. They were also seeking $150,000 for her legal defense on GoFundMe.
„Prior to the March 8 incident in which she was seen defending herself from harassment and bullying, she had never been in trouble,“ the petition claims. She said: „Her work as an academic was tainted by the bullying she had to endure at school.“
The fundraiser had raised $3,000 before being removed by the fundraising platform for violating its terms of service.
