Find traditional flavors of Japan, a great lounge with live DJs, bowling lanes, exotic hookah, nightclubs, and prosecco from the bottomless J. Harden wines, all in one convenient and classy one-stop shop Look no further than Thirteen Houston, James Harden's new restaurant venture.
As the only wine critic Bold enough to review/take J. Harden's Cab Savethere's nothing like sitting down and enjoying Beard's Far Eastern tasting menu.
I mean, just See this description on the website:
“Thirteen Houston is an artful blend of traditional flavors and Japanese flair, elevated dining, and a great time. From our state-of-the-art restaurant and patio, we offer live DJs, exotic hookah, and innovative drinks. From a great lounge with booze to a great lounge, Thirteen is sure to please, as well as a spacious section and private area with a two-lane bowling alley and private bar, better known as 'The Basement'. It also offers a unique night club. We took the concept of elevated dining and made it our own. #TheThirteenExperience. ”
Unnecessary semicolons aside, I love seeing restaurants with celebrity endorsements. Guess which dish got its name from? request. In this case, it's definitely the Thirteen Wings, which actually come in an order of six and are loaded with jerk sauce, jerk seasoning, and pineapple pico. (There are no other Caribbean flavors on the menu, but I digress.) Another is the Millionaire Sandwich. Braised beef, Hudson Valley-roasted foie gras, chocupam, truffle he mayonnaise, caviar, and shaved black truffle.
Wings stood out like a zebra in a corral full of hot apps. Gyoza, dumplings, buns, chicken wings? Oh, I know this. I once played „Which one is the least similar?“
The millionaire's sandwich was a little difficult. It's one of those dishes that fine-dining restaurant owners add to their menus for excess. Think Michael Scott stuffed into a pretzel of a fine dining experience. Honestly, I was shocked that the lobster didn't come with a shoelace.
I'd like to comment on the atmosphere, but I can't because I don't know how close the live DJ and exotic hookah are to the dining area. There's nothing classier than a nice salmon tiradito accompanied by flavorful hookah smoke and house music. I think G/O Media will just fly me to Houston to experience the whole #ThirteenExperience thing.
