Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a blistering statement Wednesday regarding President Joe Biden's „unlawful actions“ at the southern border.
Abbott accused Biden of violating his constitutional duty to enforce federal immigration laws and protect the state, saying Texas has the right to protect itself from an „invasion“ of illegal immigrants crossing the border. he claimed.
He invoked the state's „right of self-defense,“ clarifying its constitutional authority to do so and saying it „supersedes any federal law to the contrary.“
„The U.S. executive branch has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws that protect states, including the immigration laws currently in place,“ Abbott wrote.
„President Biden is refusing to enforce and even violate these laws,“ he added.
Abbott and Texas vow to stay the course
Abbott's statement criticizing President Biden follows a recent Supreme Court ruling allowing federal officials to remove the bellows wire installed at the border by the state of Texas.
But Abbott, citing the Founding Fathers, insisted that lone star nations would not be bullied into retreating.
„The visionaries who drafted the U.S. Constitution are at the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border.“ „I foresaw that the state should not be entrusted to the state,“ he claimed.
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court voted 5-4. Emergency request approved The Biden administration has filed a lawsuit alleging that Texas is preventing federal employees from performing their duties.
The ruling would allow federal agents to cut or remove razor wire used to secure Texas' borders.
Mr. Abbott and the Texas National Guard remain undaunted, saying they will „hold the line“ against the federal government.
„We continue to act decisively to secure our borders, uphold the rule of law, and protect our state's sovereignty,“ the National Guard said in a statement.
Some Democrats argue that President Biden should: forcefully seize control Abbott's statement from the Texas National Guard asserts the state's right to supersede self-defense.

Texas now offering razor wire to private property owners
Not content with simply holding the line, Abbott and the state of Texas are becoming more aggressive in the fight to secure the southern border.
Texas Border Emperor Mike Banks told ranchers this week. The state will install razor wire on private property free of charge, he said.
The ongoing razor wire controversy has been going back and forth for some time, and the Biden administration appears to have gotten its last word with the Supreme Court's decision.
But Mr. Abbott appears to be ignoring excerpts from the president's book.
Federal agents have been seen cutting wires several times in the past.
If there is a clear picture of who the enemy of the American people is, it is that the federal government is opening wide the door that has been shut by red state governors.
Imagine what you would do if someone kept coming to your home and letting criminals in your front door. You will be exercising your right of self-defense.
