Google is expanding its AI-powered editing tools, previously limited to Pixel devices and paid subscribers, to all Google Photos users for free. This includes features such as Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and Portrait Light.
These tools were previously limited to Pixel devices and Google One subscribers, but Google is now making them available to a wider audience. This expansion is part of Google's efforts to provide more value to users and compete with other AI-powered editing tools on the market.
However, there are some requirements and limitations to be aware of. The tool will begin rolling out on May 15th, but it may take several weeks before it is available to all users. Additionally, there are hardware device requirements, such as RAM and minimum OS version, to use the tool on ChromeOS and mobile devices.
Magic Editor is a standout feature that leverages generative AI to perform complex photo edits like replacing the sky and deleting objects. This tool was previously exclusive to Pixel devices, but will now be available to all Pixel users and iOS/Android users who meet the device requirements.
Most features are available to all Google Photos users, but Magic Editor saves are limited to non-Pixel users. You get 10 saves per month, and additional saves require a premium Google One plan.
Overall, this enhancement aims to democratize AI-powered photo editing and bring more advanced editing capabilities to users directly within Google Photos.
