Floyd Mayweather Jr. is facing a lawsuit in Nevada related to a car accident with injuries. The victim in the accident is suing Mayweather and the driver of a car he owns, as revealed in documents obtained by The Blast.
Despite Mayweather not being in the car at the time of the accident, he is unable to respond to the lawsuit as he is currently held against his will in Dubai.
Katherine Adelia Bourke alleges that she was involved in a car accident with a car owned by Mayweather on September 13, 2022. The car was being driven by Mayweather’s employee, Dezjah Berry.
Court documents state that Berry failed to stop at the intersection marked with a stop sign, failed to drive cautiously, and failed to yield to Bourke who had the right of way, resulting in a collision.
Bourke is seeking damages in excess of $15,000 for her injuries, claiming that Berry was incompetent, inexperienced, or not provided with adequate vehicle operation training by Mayweather Promotions.
In addition to owning various casinos and strip clubs in the USA, Mayweather is known for his gambling activities and high-dollar sports wagers shared on social media.
Reports suggest that Mayweather incurred significant debt at a private „casino“ in or near Dubai, which has led to his current situation of being unable to leave the country until the debt is settled.
Boxing promoter Rick Glaser provided updates to followers on Twitter, confirming Mayweather’s detainment in Dubai due to financial obligations.
According to Glaser, Mayweather is working to resolve the situation but has not been successful so far.
Gervonta „Tank“ Davis initially revealed Mayweather’s predicament and continued to mock him on social media, indicating Mayweather’s unsuccessful attempts to leave Dubai.
Despite the lack of media coverage and official statements, Mayweather’s situation in Dubai remains unresolved, with no intervention from the White House.
