Sofia Pernas is sharing details about her romantic journey. In an interview with ET’s Nischelle Turner, the actress talked about her initial thoughts on her now-husband, Justin Hartley, and how their friendship blossomed into love.
„My first impression of him was, ‚Wow, he comes in and out like the ding of a bell,'“ Pernas revealed to ET about Hartley, whom she met while filming for The Young and the Restless. „He would go through 65 pages a day, tearing scenes apart and tossing them in the bin as soon as he finished. It was like a whirlwind, and then he’d be gone. It was amazing.“
During this time, Hartley was married to Chrishell Stause, so Pernas and the This Is Us actor were just friends. After Hartley and Stause split in 2019, Pernas was going through a tough time herself.
Eventually, Pernas took a chance and messaged Hartley at the beginning of 2020, sparking the beginning of their romantic story.
„I remember texting him ‚happy turn of the decade‘ in January,“ she recalled. „That was it.“
After acting as „pen pals“ for a while, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything in March 2020.
„The quarantine kind of brought us closer together. I never really left him, and we got married a year later,“ Pernas shared.
Describing her relationship with Hartley, Pernas emphasized their strong friendship as a foundation for their love story.
Now, the couple is working together on Hartley’s show, Tracker, where Pernas plays a character with an intertwined past with Hartley’s role.
On-screen, Pernas and Hartley added their own touch to the script, exploring moments of intimacy between their characters.
Pernas teased a return to the show, hinting at a continuation of her character’s storyline.
Viewers can catch Pernas‘ episode of Tracker on CBS airing on March 24.
