Weather forecast says a series of storms will hit California this weekend
A series of storms are heading toward the west coast of the United States.more heavy downpours will occur, increasing the risk of flash flooding.
Water vapor from the Pacific Ocean is expected to flood the region on Saturday. This was announced by the National Weather Service. Heavy rain will begin in southern Oregon and northern California on Friday night before moving to south central California later this weekend.
Forecasters said Saturday there was a „slight risk“ of excessive rain that could lead to flash flooding from Humboldt to Sonoma County, the heart of California's wine region.
A flood watch was issued for parts of Northern California and the Central Coast, including the city of San Francisco, from Sunday morning until Wednesday morning.
Although the situation is not expected to be as severe as the effects of the atmospheric „River in the Sky“ phenomenon that hit the state last week, officials say there is cause for concern.
Many areas of California have already been saturated by heavy rains, causing hundreds of landslides.

Conditions are 'not ideal' for atmospheric river weather systems
Weather officials say the latest storm in California is worse than the devastating atmospheric river that parked in the southern part of the state earlier this month, turning roads into rivers, triggering hundreds of landslides and killing at least nine people. It is expected to pass quickly.
„It's not an ideal situation for an atmospheric river, but there are some characteristics, such as a band of subtropical moisture that pulls up the back of the storm,“ said Braden Murdock, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS). said.
“Otherwise, it’s just a cold front.”

Another wet winter storm hits California, flood watch announced
The latest in a series of wet winter storms made landfall in northern California on Sunday, and forecasters predict flooding, hail, high winds and even the possibility of brief tornadoes as the system moves south over the next few days. I'm warning you that there is.
A mild cold front will develop into a more powerful storm late Saturday, with wind gusts exceeding 30 mph (48 kph) in Oakland and San Jose increasing into early Monday, said National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologist Braden Murdock. he told the Associated Press. .
„The wind is getting stronger and it's going to rain soon,“ he said Sunday afternoon.
California's central coast is at risk of „major flooding,“ with up to 5 inches (12 centimeters) of rain expected to fall in many areas, the weather bureau said. A total of 10 inches (25 centimeters) of rain could fall in isolated locations in the Santa Lucia and Santa Ynez Mountains as the storm heads toward the greater Los Angeles area.

Tornadoes possible along the Central Coast
The National Weather Service (NWS) warned that tornadoes were possible along the Central Coast on Sunday ahead of more atmospheric storms.
“There is a small chance of one or two weak, short-lived tornadoes along the Central Coast, primarily in coastal areas of San Luis Obispo County, late this afternoon and evening. „This is when a low-level reversal occurs,“ said the NWS forecast, updated Sunday afternoon.
„Other hazards include short periods of heavy rain, 40 mph winds, and potential lightning strikes. As mentioned in a previous discussion, this type of low-level convection produces little or no lightning. Although it is possible, it still poses many of the risks listed.”

Saturday's weather provides a 'primer' for next week's storms
Forecasters at the National Weather Service (NWS) expect the weather to be milder Saturday, but to act as a „prime“ for the next storm.
When it rains, it becomes harder for the ground to absorb rain during the next rainfall event, increasing the risk of flooding, they said.
