MANILA, Philippines — Brooke Van Sickle's parents, Lisa and Gary, are proud to watch their daughter grow up with Petro Gaz at the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Filipino-American spiker has been sensational so far in her first stint in the league, with her parents flying in to cheer on their daughter and the Angels in person for the first time.
Van Sickle, who was in the stands at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with his parents on Wednesday, left it all behind with 27 points, 20 digs and 12 impressive receptions, but Petro Gaz was joined by birthday girls Eya Rolle and Cherry Tigo. 25 in 5 sets. 21, 18-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-13.

It may have been a tough downtime for Van Sickle and the Angels, but even before the game started, Lisa and Gary expressed how proud they were of the do-it-all outside hitter.
„Oh my gosh, she was so amazing. It's been a long time since we've been back to the Philippines, but Brooke has loved it here since day one,“ said San Emilio, Ilocos Sur. said Lisa, who traces her Filipino roots.

„From what I've heard from Brooke, she's as friendly as anyone and everyone is welcoming. We're looking forward to watching her play,“ Gary added.
Her parents, who are also Brooke's first volleyball coaches, hoped that Brooke's presence would not put pressure on their daughter, but her father said the rising star in Petro Guts would show off his outstanding volleyball skills. It was right.

„I don't think we're going to change her game because she's played in front of us so many times. Frankly, she could be a little bit better,“ Gary said.
„We were her coaches from the time she was 8 years old until she went to college. I don't think there's any pressure per se, but I think she's excited that we're here. I hope so. ” said Lisa.
Van Sickle played at the University of Oregon in NCAA Division I before transferring to the University of Hawaii, where she won several individual awards in both indoor and beach volleyball.
Van Sickle may have only arrived in Manila two months ago, but he has already made a huge impact on Petro Gaz, leading them to the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League title and four wins in the ongoing PVL. They advanced to the semi-finals with two losses.

And her parents couldn't be more proud of the PNVF Champions League MVP.
„It's been a lot of fun watching her blossom into the player she is today. I think what I admire most about her is her fearlessness. She doesn't get too upset. I feel like the reason I call her a closer is because she knows how to close games. She's always been that way,“ Lisa said.
„She's come a long way. When I look at her now, I think this has been a good journey for her and she's ready for this moment to play here. (We're) here I'm happy to be here,“ Brooke's father said.
