owner of the dallas cowboys Jerry Jones decided last week. bring the mic mccarthy is back again Following an embarrassing first-game loss at home to Green Bay. Now, word has come that they are keeping McCarthy under contract, but will not extend his contract. So Jones essentially gave the head coach the secondary title of „lame duck“ with no guarantees about his future. This raises the question of why the Cowboys made the decision to withdraw from the game so early, only to drop this bombshell days later.
The simple answer here is That's Jerry Jones. But what was the point? There were so many successful applicants on the market that it would have been time to go in a different direction.if Dan Quinn steps forward and takes the head coaching job., it's going to be even harder to get over the hump without the Cowboys defensive mastermind next year. Unless the plan is to slide Quinn into McCarthy's position if Dallas falls behind again.
If Dallas gets off to a slow start next season, they probably won't be able to bounce back. McCarthy will lose the locker room If the Cowboys start 2-5, for example, there will be no overtime. Now, this team is a very talented team, so that probably won't happen, but anything is possible. Without any reassurance from his owners, McCarthy will be hanging out in the dark in 2024. He's going to have to prove that he's the guy to get this organization back to where it belongs.
It's hard to fire a coach after three consecutive 12-win seasons. That's not hard to understand, but when you lead a franchise that has historically measured success in the Super Bowl, it's hard to be completely satisfied with the results of McCarthy's tenure. Outside of the first year of the pandemic, McCarthy's team had a great regular season.
If it's Jacksonville or Carolina, just winning a district title and qualifying for the postseason is great. If you represent a franchise with a championship history, it's unacceptable to advance to the divisional round or lose in Wild Card Weekend. At least it shouldn't be allowed.
Anything other than NFC Championship Game appearances and McCarthy should exit from stage left. That's the situation with the Jones Cowboys. Making the NFC title game would be a huge win for an organization that has won five Super Bowls. Dallas could go 15-2 next year. If the team catches fire before conference championship weekend, Jones will have to draw the line. While this may not be the most popular decision at the moment, Jones has made difficult decisions before. They are stuck with Dak Prescott, so something else needs to change. Get ready to watch McCarthy step on that board for 18 weeks next fall.
